Reading Notes Week 16 Part A
I thought this story was interesting because of the relationship between these two girls, Twyla and Roberta. They seem very different but at the same time they seem very alike and similar. It reminds me of the movie "Forest Gump" and the relationship/friendship between Forest and Jenny; of course, they are similar in many ways but also so very different. I've read Toni Morrison's book "Beloved" in an English class I took last semester, and loved the book. Morrison writes in a way that is relatable to the reader and entices the reader to be brought into the story she's writing. This story is interesting to me too because it also leaves me wondering about why these two girls are so different. It seems typical that growing up, they don't have much in common, but later down the road, they have many things in common and it's nice to see them talk about their past. It also seems to show the basic ups and downs of a relationship, which is also relatable to anyone in life; we all have ups and downs in the different relationships we have with our lover/partner, our parents, siblings, friends, other family members and other members of society.
